Teach college-level Industrial Instrumentation courses. This position is responsible for the preparation of consumables used in laboratory exercises, equipment usage, and maintaining adequate supplies in addition to preparing and delivering lectures, moderating classroom discussions, leading labs, and administering and grading examinations. Maintain accurate grade and attendance records. Adhere to all laws pertaining to disclosure of student records. Posts at office and on the syllabus, on-campus hours to facilitate interaction with students, other faculty, staff administrators and the public. Be available to students via email, phone and/or in person conference.

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Receives training or stays current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Facilitates student learning, provides effective instruction, and performs evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes.

· Develops course curriculum, course handouts, lectures, lab exercises, and presentations prior to scheduled course times.

· Organizes instruction in classrooms and laboratories as evidenced by adequate and clearly stated course outlines, learning objectives, learning outcomes, lesson plans, competency assessments, and instructional materials such as textbooks, instruction sheets, and/or electronic resources available.

· Use and update the required course management system.

· Support department assessment initiatives.

· Meet deadlines and evaluate student work in a timely manner, including submitting Show/No Show reports, midterm grades, and final grades.

· Assists with student completion, placement, and retention rates ensuring that they meet accrediting agencies standards.

· Demonstrates professional work ethic expectations (appearance, attendance, teamwork, promptness, cooperation, etc.).

· Responsible for providing training in the competencies essential to success in the occupation including attitudes, job knowledge, and skills.

· Works with other faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies, including reviewing and participating in textbook selection process.

· Participates and attends all commencement ceremonies.

· Attends meetings and prepares reports as necessary.

· Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.

· Participate in campus and community events.

· Posts and maintains on campus hours to facilitate interaction with students, other faculty, staff, administrators, and the public.

· Maintains and submits accurate student grades and attendance records in accordance with institutional policies and established deadlines.

· Be available to students via email, phone, and/or personal conferences. The method of contact and hours of availability should be clearly identified and communicated to supervisors and students through course syllabi, the course management system, and on approved office hours posted each semester.

· Provides advisement services to students through formal and/or informal advising.

· Assists with student completion, placement, and retention rates ensuring that they meet accrediting agencies standards.

· Continually monitor follow-up data from student completers, employers and advisory board committees in order to evaluate information for continual quality improvement and program effectiveness.

· Receives training or stays current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.

· Maintains current standard reference books, periodicals, and manuals of a business, professional, technical, and industrial nature to facilitate the educational program objectives.

· Participates in college professional development activities.

· Participates in local business and industry activities.

· Mentor and/or assist in orienting new faculty either formally and/or informally.

· Attend local, regional, state, or national meetings where needed or necessary for the discipline.

· Participates and attends all Industrial Instrumentation advisory committee meetings.

· Cooperates and collaborates with other agencies to promote technical and community college education.

· Adheres to all laws pertaining to disclosure of student records.

· Adheres to all applicable Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) and SOWELA Technical Community College policies.

· Select, order, and maintain materials and supplies for teaching and research, such as textbooks, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.

· Maintains a safe and secure classroom/lab environment conducive to effective learning.

· Ensures all instructional equipment and supplies meet safety standards.

· Travels to and from locations off campus for instructional purposes as needed for the program.

· Complete other duties as required or assigned.
