Job Title: Class 1 Electrician

Reports to: Rigging Foreman

Location: Jeanerette

Status: Hourly

Hours: Full Time, 6:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. M-F

Potential for overtime on Weekdays and Weekends

Education or Required Experience:

  • • 2 to 3 years reading AC/DC electrical diagrams
  • • Preferred ABYC Marine Electrical Certification but not required.


Required Skills:

 Possesses a thorough understanding of AC or DC circuit operation and theory.

 Proficiently troubleshoots any electrical, nav, communication, NMEA 2000, and engine data issues.

 Understands and can utilize all functions of a multimeter.

 Tests circuits for voltage, continuity, and amp draw.

 Properly connects isolation transformers.

 Terminates antenna and video connections.

 Terminates ethernet connections.

 Understands network communication.

 Programs motors, communication, and nav equipment.

 Read manufacturer documentation to determine how to install and integrate engine electrical, control, and communication systems.

 Understands the function and install of marine electronics such as AIS, Radar, transponders, and transducers.

 Can QC electrical schematics and effectively communicate issues to foreman.

 Basic understanding of proper wire and circuit protection sizing.

 Proficient in all skills of Class 2 and 3 Electrician titles.

 Clean up shop and work area.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.
