Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Develop and integrate key components of the next generation of mobile satellite communications framework using Globalstar’s new generation of LEO satellites
  • Develop low level embedded firmware in Globalstar SATCOM products
  • C/C++ coding for embedded Linux and FreeRTOS on ARM processors to support user functionality of satellite communication devices
  • Write firmware for battery powered devices with a focus on minimizing power consumption

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Position skills:

  • Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Self-reliant, able to multi-task in an aggressive schedule environment, effectively manage time, and prioritize tasks
  • Able to read and understand schematic diagrams
  • Able to quickly comprehend and debug existing code
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a passion for developing and integrating operational firmware into new electronic products

Position requirements:

  • BS or MS Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years post college experience in a firmware development position, preferably in a wireless related role
  • Proficient in Linux, especially for embedded ARM environments
  • Experience writing or modifying peripheral drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, USB
  • Proficient in at least one (1) configuration management tool (e.g., P4, GIT, CVS, SVN, ClearCase)
  • Experience using a bug tracking system or software managed development process (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla)
  • Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Bluetooth protocol development
  • RF experience, including Digital Signal Processing
  • Familiar with Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs
